This morning my thoughts were prompted by my coffee maker. You see, I normally fill it before I go to bed and have it on an automatic start for 4 a.m. Last night I went to bed without doing that.
So, this morning I stood beside the coffee maker putting the number of scoops of coffee grounds in the filter, the filter in the brewing basket and then the water in the chamber. Our particular maker has a site tube on the side of the water chamber, which I fill every time to the eleven-cup mark every time. It’s all very simple.
However, this morning as I stood watching the water rise in the site tube the Lord began to minister to me. I heard a subtle question in my heart, “what’s your level”.
“My level of what Lord?”
“Your level of joy and peace. Your level of Me.”
Then all these verses began to flow through my mind just like the water that I was pouring into the coffee pot.
“So don’t be foolish with your lives, but learn what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don’t be drunk with wine, which will ruin your life, but be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:17-18 ERV
“And I pray that you and all God’s holy people will have the power to understand the greatness of Christ’s love—how wide, how long, how high, and how deep that love is. 19 Christ’s love is greater than anyone can ever know, but I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with everything God has for you.” Ephesians 3:18-19 ERV
“You will show me the way of life. Being with You is to be full of joy. In Your right hand there is happiness forever.” Psalm 16:11 NLV
“Be full of joy always because you belong to the Lord. Again I say, be full of joy!” Philippians 4:4 NLV
“Ezra said to them, “Go, eat and drink what you enjoy, and give some to him who has nothing ready. For this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be sad for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 NLV
“So let the peace that comes from Christ control your thoughts. And be grateful. 16 Let the message about Christ completely fill your lives, while you use all your wisdom to teach and instruct each other.” Colossians 3:15-16 CEV
“ And because you belong to Christ Jesus, God’s peace will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings. His peace can do this far better than our human minds.” Philippians 4:7 ERV
I will ask you the question the Lord asked me, “what’s your level”. Your level of joy, of peace, of strength, of Christ Himself.
Filling that coffeemaker is a daily thing. Being filled with Christ and His word so that we have peace, joy, love and strength should be an on-going daily experience.
Maybe it’s time to check your level.
