Every day I meet campers who have traveled hours to our campground. They are excited to be here, in the cooler climate.
This weekend there will be many of you on the road or perhaps, in the air. I found myself praying for all of you.
Safety in travels, safety from natural disasters, safety during medical procedures, safety in daily routine, safety for soldiers, first responders and all in harm’s way. Safety during fun family activities.
Safety!
And then I read again God’s word and His promise of safety.
“1-13ย You who sit down in the High Godโs presence,
ย ย ย ย spend the night in Shaddaiโs shadow,
Say this: โGod, youโre my refuge.
ย ย ย ย I trust in you and Iโm safe!โ
Thatโs rightโhe rescues you from hidden traps,
ย ย ย ย shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect youโ
ย ย ย ย under them youโre perfectly safe;
ย ย ย ย his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothingโnot wild wolves in the night,
ย ย ย ย not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
ย ย ย ย not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around,
ย ย ย ย drop like flies right and left,
ย ย ย ย no harm will even graze you.
Youโll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
ย ย ย ย watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, becauseย Godโs your refuge,
ย ย ย ย the High God your very own home,
Evil canโt get close to you,
ย ย ย ย harm canโt get through the door.
He ordered his angels
ย ย ย ย to guard you wherever you go.
If you stumble, theyโll catch you;
ย ย ย ย their job is to keep you from falling.
Youโll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,
ย ย ย ย and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
14-16ย โIf youโll hold on to me for dear life,โ saysย God,
ย ย ย ย โIโll get you out of any trouble.
Iโll give you the best of care
ย ย ย ย if youโll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and Iโll answer, be at your side in bad times;
ย ย ย ย Iโll rescue you, then throw you a party.
Iโll give you a long life,
ย ย ย ย give you a long drink of salvation!โ Psalm 91 MSG
Praise God for His protection and love. Thank God for our nation and those who purchased our freedom.
