Love Without End!

This morning, I couldn’t lay in bed any longer. I had to get up and move around; I am sore and ache all over. It’s the result of 4 days of moving and there are still several more in front of me.

Have you ever noticed that when we hurt emotionally or physically, we have a tendency to whine? Ok, so maybe you never do but I’m guilty. I came out to the couch and began taking inventory of all the different joints and muscles that were hurting. Then I stopped to pray…

Whining is not a good form of prayer.

Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.” Philippians 4:6-7 CEV

Don’t worry (complain), be thankful. Thank you, Lord, for our new home, thank you for a strong body, thank you for energizing me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Remember at the beginning of the year I told you that we can find God’s love on every page of the Bible? The Bible was written to express the Father’s love so it was no surprise when I opened to the next chapter I was to read in the Psalms and read this:

“Praise the Lord because he is good.
His faithful love will last forever.
Praise the God of gods!
His faithful love will last forever.
Praise the Lord of lords!
His faithful love will last forever.
Praise him who alone does wonderful miracles!
His faithful love will last forever.
Praise the one who used wisdom to make the skies!
His faithful love will last forever.
He spread the land over the sea.
His faithful love will last forever.
He made the great lights.
His faithful love will last forever.
He made the sun to rule the day.
His faithful love will last forever.
He made the moon and stars to rule the night.
His faithful love will last forever.” Psalm 136:1-9 ERV

His faithful love will last forever! It goes on forever, it’s a love without end! Yes, Lord, I get the message. Your faithful love TO ME lasts forever!

When I began to focus on His love and power my achy muscles and joints faded. I was energized by His love, it changed the way I feel.

“I will tell of your greatness, my God and King.
I will praise your name forever and ever.
I will praise you every day.
I will praise your name forever and ever.
The Lord is great and deserves all our praise!
No one can fully understand his greatness!…The Lord can be trusted in all that he says.
He is loyal in all that he does.
14 The Lord lifts up people who have fallen.
He helps those who are in trouble.” Psalm 145:1-3, 14 ERV

God’s love and our praise of Him are two things that should last forever. Maybe you don’t feel like praising the Lord this morning, maybe you don’t feel you deserve His love. None of us deserve it – that’s why it’s called unconditional love! God is love and His love never ends.

To quote a George Strait song, Love Without End, Amen:

“They said, “Let me tell you a secret about a father’s love
A secret that my daddy said was just between us
You see, daddies don’t just love their children
Every now and then It’s a love without end, amen
It’s a love without end, amen”

God’s love not only comforts us, it strengthens us. It’s a love without end, amen!

Christmas Cards

I know it’s only December 1st but have you received any Christmas cards yet?

I have a few friends that address their cards and write their Christmas letters on Thanksgiving weekend. Then, like clockwork, they are in the mail and delivered by December 1. In fact, I have already received one – it arrived, hand-delivered, on Thanksgiving Day.

Are you like me? I love getting these Christmas greetings from friends and loved one far and near. Reading their newsy letters brings them close once again.

As I sat here this morning wondering what I should share, I prayed a simple prayer and asked “Lord, what do you want to say this morning?”. Here’s the answer – it’s from God’s heart to you – ‘nuf said.

“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3 KJV

“From far away, the Lord will appear to his people. The Lord says, “I love you people with a love that continues forever. That is why I have continued showing you kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3 ERV

Years ago, I read this verse about this time of year and it really impacted my heart. I felt like it was God’s message for the Season. His matchless love – His unconditional love – His love that never fails is the reason we have Christmas.

The Father reached out to us with His most extravagant gift, Jesus, His Son.

Maybe, just maybe, you’ll print this verse and attach it to your mantle or at least copy it and put it in your phone so you can look at it several times each day. This message of everlasting love and God’s lovingkindness, His “hesed” is a message from His heart to ours!

Positive Affirmation

Lately we have ordered quite a bit of stuff on line and each day after I receive my delivery confirmation I receive an email asking for my feedback. It seems the whole country needs positive affirmation.

We read the warnings on how hard social media can be for our young people. Not enough friends, not enough likes, too many bad comments and their worlds fall apart. But we adults fall prey to that thinking as well.

We wondered why we didn’t have more people like a picture or comment on something we’ve posted. When the numbers aren’t what we think they should be we wonder if anyone is even interested in us anymore.

Each morning when I open the app for writing my blog the first page it opens too is the stat page. This page tells me how many people read or clicked through on my blog from the day before. Let me tell you, some days the numbers aren’t great. In fact, there has been an occasion or two when I’ve wondered if I should keep writing each day.

Now before you think I’m seeking positive affirmation, let me stop you. The moment that thought comes into my mind I replace it with this:

Whatever you say or do, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus. Give thanks to God the Father through the Lord Jesus.” Colossians 3:17 NLV

His is the only positive affirmation I need!

I know the Lord called me to do this blog and I will keep doing it until He tells me to stop. Readership doesn’t matter, presenting you with the life-changing, positive, confidence building, encouraging, correcting, love of God is my soul goal and purpose.

“The Lord came to us from far away, saying, “I have loved you with a love that lasts forever. So I have helped you come to Me with loving-kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3 NLV

When we put our faith and trust in Christ, receiving Him as our Savior, we have all the positive affirmation we need. He will not leave us, He gives us strength, He walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death fearlessly.

There is no one, no number of likes, no amount of hearts to our comments that can ever outweigh the love of the One who gave His life for us!

Now this comes from a reformed people pleaser. I used to need all the affirmation and kind words and acceptance I could get. It was a death sentence to my soul. Then I found that in Christ I had been accepted and that’s all I needed.

“God already planned to have us as His own children. This was done by Jesus Christ. In His plan God wanted this done. We thank God for His loving-favor to us. He gave this loving-favor to us through His much-loved Son. Because of the blood of Christ, we are bought and made free from the punishment of sin. And because of His blood, our sins are forgiven. His loving-favor to us is so rich.” Ephesians 1:507 NLV

You have been affirmed! God loves you and has chosen you as His own. That’s more than enough!

Love – True Love!

There are movies that have special memories for our family; White Christmas, Goonies, Lonesome Dove, McClintock and Princess Bride. These are just a few of our favorites.

“Love – True Love” is a quote from Princess Bride. It makes us smile each time we hear that phrase. This morning those words jumped off the page as I was reading in I John.

“This is how God showed his love to us: He sent his only Son into the world to give us life through him. 10 True love is God’s love for us, not our love for God. He sent his Son as the way to take away our sins.

11 That is how much God loved us, dear friends! So we also must love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us. If we love each other, God’s love has reached its goal—it is made perfect in us.

13 We know that we live in God and God lives in us. We know this because he gave us his Spirit. 14 We have seen that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world, and this is what we tell people now. 15 Anyone who says, “I believe that Jesus is the Son of God,” is a person who lives in God, and God lives in that person. 16 So we know the love that God has for us, and we trust that love. God is love. Everyone who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in them.” I John 4:9-16 ERV

To know the true love of God is a life-changing experience. The unconditional love of God is almost inconceivable and so we accept it by faith. The Father puts no conditions on His love for us, it isn’t merit based. He loved us before we loved Him and His love was put into action when He sent His Son into the world to be our Savior.

Knowing the love that the Father has for us causes us to trust, trust the Father. It gives us a sense of confidence and security. Instead of running away and hiding from Him when we falter or fail, we will run to Him knowing that He forgives us of our failings and will help us in every situation.

Human love can falter. Human love can be withdrawn but if it is, it isn’t true love.

Love, true love – the love that God has for us is everlasting and will never fail!

Now that’s good news and something to be thankful for!

God is Great!

The first thing I did this morning was look up and say “thank You”!

Before the sun rises my heart is already praising my heavenly Father for His love and His greatness. Before the first birds sing their morning song my heart is expressing my gratitude for His goodness. Before the coyotes break the silence my heart is spilling over with the joy of knowing I am loved unconditionally by the Father.

Great are You, Lord!

Some days can get us down; there is no denying we face challenges, some greater than others. However, there is nothing that is greater than our God!

“So David praised the Lord in front of all the people. He said, “Honor and thanks be to You, O Lord God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11 O Lord, You have great power, shining-greatness and strength. Yes, everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You. You are the King, O Lord. And You are honored as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You. You rule over all. Power and strength are in Your hand. The power is in Your hand to make great and to give strength to all. 13 So now, our God, we thank You. We praise Your great and honored name.” I Chronicles 29:10-13 NLV

The picture I used in this morning’s blog is one I took on Christmas Eve morning while we were camping. I think the reason I enjoy camping as much as I do is because it reminds me of the greatness and goodness of the One who tells me His love is everlasting. The grandeur of the landscape; the majestic colors of the sky; the intricate design of the flowers and the trees all confirm His love for me.

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?” Matthew 6:25-26 NLT

Sunday morning we sang a song during our on-line church service that truly describes my heart’s praise: Great Are You Lord by Jason David Ingram, David Leonard, Leslie Jordan

You give life, You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore
Every heart that is broken
And great are You, Lord

It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only

Start the day right. Join with me in praising the Father for His greatness. There is no greater love than His!
