Trust and Obey

It was a delight to wake up again this morning to the sound of rain falling on the roof. Thank you Lord!

Everywhere I read in my Bible today, I found lessons on trust. The demon possessed man who trusted the Lord and was set free (Mark 5). The four lepers who trusted God with their lives when they headed to the Syrian camp (II Kings 7) and even the Philistines who trusted the Lord to take the plagues out of their cities when they returned the ark of covenant to the nation of Israel (I Samuel 6).

Trust in the Lord and obedience to His word brings deliverance to everyone, no matter who you are or what your circumstances are.

And the last place I was reading is one of my favorites. A set of Scriptures that I re-read regularly and have for many years.

“Please hurry, Lord, and answer my prayer. I feel hopeless. Don’t turn away and leave me here to die. 8 Each morning let me learn more about your love because I trust you. I come to you in prayer, asking for your guidance. 9 Please rescue me from my enemies, Lord! I come to you for safety. 10 You are my God. Show me what you want me to do, and let your gentle Spirit lead me in the right path. 11 Be true to your name, Lord, and keep my life safe. Use your saving power to protect me from trouble. 12 I am your servant. Show how much you love me by destroying my enemies.” Psalm 143:7-12 CEV

I love this line – each morning let me learn more about your love because I trust you!

It reminds me of the old hymn we would sing in church. Trust and Obey

“When we walk with the Lord

In the light of His word

What a glory He sheds on our way

While we do His good will

He abides with us still

And with all who will trust and obey

Trust and obey

For there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus

But to trust and obey”

Trust and obey.

In simple terms, we raise our children to obey us, their parents. Isn’t it only logical that we do the same with our heavenly Father?

The Lord’s plan is certainly the best and there is no one, NO ONE, who is more trustworthy than He!
